Redesigning the

Impact Reporting Experience

Each year, the global investment firm released a static, data-heavy Sustainability Insights PDF that investors found difficult to engage with. We reimagined it as an interactive web platform that turns complex data into engaging, story-driven dashboards.

To comply with my non-disclosure agreement, certain details, visuals, and data have been

omitted or generalized.

Roles & Responsibilities

Though the project had defined roles,
I worked across all phases from research and UX design to visual design and storytelling.

Understanding the Context

The sustainable finance sector is growing fast, clean energy investments hit nearly $2 trillion in 2024.

The client’s Global Environment Fund supports decarbonization, clean technology, and the shift to renewable energy in line with global climate goals.

The Challenge

The existing PDF report for their Global Environment Fund was informative but inaccessible. It lacked interactivity, personalization, and mobile optimization key expectations of today’s digital-first investors.

Our goal was to:

  • Simplify complex ESG data through interactive visualizations.

  • Improve accessibility and engagement across all devices.

  • Humanize numbers with narrative and transparency.

Defining Opportunities

  • Make data exploratory, not static.

  • Structure the flow around impact, not categories.

  • Standardize visual language for clarity.

  • Balance quantitative data with qualitative narratives.

Ideation

We conducted multiple brainstorming and co-creation workshops with the internal design team and client teams.

Process we followed:

  • Raw idea generation sessions.

  • Team voting and shortlist ideas.

  • Client workshops to discuss and prioritize them.

The collaboration helped distill the concept into focus modules that structured the final experience.

Focus Modules

  • Strategic Impact Framework – Showcases the fund’s Net Zero journey with visualized carbon and waste impact.

  • Portfolio Summary – Displays sector trends, top contributors, and ESG progress metrics.

  • Holding Overview – Lets users explore company-level ESG profiles through expandable cards.

  • Influence Summary – Demonstrates how the fund’s engagements and voting drive real-world change.

Certain module details and data interactions are not disclosed under NDA.

Design Approach

We built a system around clarity and interactivity:

  • Modular information architecture for scalability.

  • Filterable dashboards for user-controlled exploration.

  • Responsive layout for multi-device use.

  • Visual hierarchy emphasizing transparency and clear categorization.

UI Visualization

This section presents my independent UI exploration inspired by the project.

To comply with my NDA, these screens do not reflect the client’s final design language, assets, or confidential visuals.

Reflection

Working on this project taught me how data visualization and storytelling can coexist within financial UX.
Balancing compliance, clarity, and creativity was challenging but rewarding.
This project remains one of the most meaningful experiences from my time at UST, combining strategy, research, and design into a single, cohesive story.
